Frequently Asked Questions

How will StepUp ensure clubs are safe to attend in the current climate?

We have operated a number of successful clubs during the Covid-19 outbreak, both for the children of key workers, plus a full summer and winter programme that was open to all local children during 2021. Many of the restrictions we had to comply with during the pandemic have been relaxed, yet we at StepUp Sports Coaching still desire to protect you and your family, as well as our staff. Some of our plans to continue to remain safe include:

Staggered drop off and collection times.  Parents can drop off children for multi-sports and football camps anytime between 8.30am and 9.00am. If you have booked an Extended Day session you can collect anytime between 5.00pm and 6.00pm; parents who have booked a Standard Day session can collect anytime between 3.30pm and 4.00pm.  Having staggered times will limit the number of people arriving/departing at the same time and supports social distancing between parents.

Outdoor drop off/collection zones. All children are to be dropped off and collected outside Edgbarrow Sports Centre. To ensure we stay as safe as possible we are asking parents to not enter indoors during these times. If the weather is poor, parents can come indoors, but we may limit numbers if the reception area is busy.

Contactless Registration. Parents will not need to sign the daily register, instead staff will note the child’s arrival. If someone other than the parent or other authorised and known adult is due to collect, the person dropping off will need to inform the staff member and obtain a password to be used at collection. Password collection is only necessary where we do not already know the authorised adult.

How will the waitlist work?

Should you find the club you require is fully booked, please email hello@stepupfoundation.org.uk to be added to the waitlist. If an existing booking is cancelled and therefore a new place becomes available, we will email parents in strict order in which they joined the waitlist. Any parent receiving an offer of a place must confirm their place within 24-hours, or the space will be offered to the next person on the waitlist.

Why are parents who choose bank transfer, childcare vouchers, or the tax-free scheme now being asked to make payment within 7 days or lose their booking?

Over the years we have seen an increase in the number of parents selecting these payment options in order to secure their place, only to then either not show up or cancel at the last minute. As no payment was ever made we have no right to request a cancellation or no show payment. This not only leaves us with a financial burden, but it often means there’s a child sat at home who wanted to attend the holiday club, but couldn’t if that date was showing as being fully booked.

From summer 2021 all bookings must show as ‘PAID’ on the system within 7-days of the booking being made. Any booking that is still showing as unpaid may be cancelled by us and the space offered to someone on the waitlist.

What payment methods do you accept?

You can see all available payment methods via this link.

Who do I contact if I am late collecting my child or if I need to collect my child early from club?

Please call or text the Operations Manager on 07444 714921

What does my child need to bring?

All children attending camp will need to bring a snack for mid-morning/afternoon break, a packed lunch (no nuts), and a refillable water bottle.

What should my child wear to camp?

We request that children wear ‘sporty’ clothes and trainers to camp, together with anything else they need that is appropriate to the weather conditions forecast (coats, waterproofs, hats, gloves, caps, sunscreen etc). We aim to be outdoors as much as possible, so please do ensure your child is dressed for the weather!
